  |  FIG Commission Publication Author Support Grant OUTLINE
The FIG Foundation offers author support grants of up to 28,000 euros 
	spread over a maximum of four years. The grants are aimed at (1) increasing 
	FIG publications by authors who reside in low-income, lower-middle or 
	upper-middle income economy countries, and (2) contributing to the 
	implementation of part of a Commission’s Working Plan. An application should state explicitly how the project contributes to the 
	outcomes envisaged in the relevant part of the Commission’s Working Plan 
	and. The proposed author, hereafter referred to as “the author” is expected to 
	have a significant input into the application and the extent of their 
	involvement should be clear in the application. “Project” refers to the 
	publication as the final output and the work expected to generate the 
	publication. For the purposes of this grant, a Commission’s Working Plan may 
	be a project involving more than one commission, in which case “Commission” 
	is deemed to be all the commissions involved in the relevant plan or part 
	thereof.Applications shall be submitted by Commission Chairs. In the event of a 
	joint venture involving more than one commission, the various Commission 
	Chairs shall submit a joint application.
 The following conditions apply: 
		1. The funding will be renewed on an annual basis over the project 
		cycle (i.e. a maximum of four years) subject to a satisfactory review by 
		the FIG Foundation of a progress report which describes the outcomes 
		measured against the proposed outcomes, a work plan for the year ahead 
		and the remaining years in the project, and an explanation of how funds 
		were spent against what was budgeted for the year.Note that a four year cycle is a liberal interpretation of the work 
		expected to complete the project.The annual progress report shall be co-signed by the author and the 
		Commission Chair(s).The funded author shall take the lead and do the bulk of the work on 
		the publication. They may be assisted by other commission 
		representatives as co-authors. Leadership by the author has to be clear 
		to the FIG FoundationThe author shall be an active participant in policy development 
		and/or some form of knowledge development related to surveying, and they 
		should be qualified as a professional surveyor[1].The author shall be a citizen of and resident in a country listed by 
		the World Bank as a low-income, lower-middle or upper-middle income 
		economy[2].The author shall have an established record of published research 
		and/or knowledge dissemination – for example articles in good quality 
		internationally recognised peer reviewed journals or chapters in 
		published books serves as a useful guideline. Preference will be given 
		to authors who have a long career ahead of them. Grants are to be used for attendance at FIG Commission annual 
		meetings, presentation of peer reviewed papers at FIG Conferences and 
		Working Weeks, and peer reviewed papers at other conferences related to 
		the project, and other matters specified in the proposal and in annual 
		work plans and progress reports.As the publication is part of a Commission’s Working Plan, the FIG 
		Foundation shall be acknowledged in the publication itself and in the 
		annual progress report of the Commission to the General Assembly. Applications will be judged on the quality of the application and need. 
	In the event that two excellent applications are judged to be of equal 
	quality, applications where the author is from, resident in, and working in

 THE APPLICATIONApplicants are to submit their application in 12 point Times New Roman 
	font as a single PDF document, A4 size, minimum margin sizes 25mm / 1 inch, 
	in the following order. Applicants are strongly advised to view the videos 
	on submitting grant applications to the FIG Foundation. TITLE OF PROPOSED PUBLICATIONKEY WORDS THAT BEST DESCRIBE THE PROPOSED PUBLICATIONProvide six key words SUMMARY OF THE PROPOSED PUBLICATIONIn layman’s “press release” type language, communicate the objectives of 
	the proposed publication project, the scientific or pragmatic approach, the 
	novelty and significance of the work. Maximum number of words = 400. BENEFITS OF PUBLICATIONList and argue the envisaged benefits in the following order: 
		Benefits to FIG and other possible target audience(s).Benefits to the Commission(s).
		Benefits to the author’s home country.

		 PROPOSED CHAPTER OUTLINE AND PAGE BUDGET FOR EACH CHAPTERProvide a brief outline of the proposed chapters – maximum 200 words per 
	chapter and a page budget for each chapter. METHODOLOGY AND WORKPLANMaximum two pages. BUDGETDescribe and argue the budget over the four year cycle. If the 
	application is successful, this should be revised every year and included in 
	the annual report. Ensure that other possible sources of funding are listed.Note that the FIG foundation does not fund per diem allowances or 
	administration costs.
 AUTHOR AND CO-AUTHOR CVsThe CV should list the author’s and the proposed co-authors’: Education Professional experience Publication list. Ensure that peer reviewed and non-peer reviewed 
	publications are distinguished. The author is expected to have published in 
	the area of the project. NAMES AND CONTACT DETAILS OF THREE POSSIBLE EXTERNAL REFEREES FOR THE 
	APPLICATIONDOES THIS PROJECT REQUIRE ETHICS APPROVAL OR OTHER FORMS OF CERTIFICATION
