Abstract

With reference to a petrochemical complex in Asia, this paper explains how companies working together on a project are organised and how they interface with each other.

In this case, the organisations involved were:

  • the Owner, as Employer as well as User of the plant,

  • the Project Managing Contractor, whose structure was strictly cooperating with some offices of the Owner, since the PMC was also in charge of the training of the personnel belonging to some departments of the Owner itself,

  • the Engineering Contractors, whose tasks were engineering, procurement, supervision of the construction and startup of the plant,

  • the Construction Contractors and

  • the Civil Contractors (office buildings and other ancillary buildings, roads, railway connection, etc.)
